How to Answer Most Common 35 Interview Questions

1. Tell us about yourself?
Answer: This question is the most common question and it will give you the chance to explain all of your achievements and rewards. Actually if you are a smart person then you always eagerly wait for this question. Only this question will give you the chance to increase your value in front of the interviewer. Explain little about your educational background and more about your achievements in this section.

2. Why did you leave your last job?
Answer: This is a kind of tricky question to know about your motives. You should be careful regarding answering this question. You should not answer in a way, which proves your failure or selfishness. Do not even blame your company. You should answer this question in a way which will be something different. Like – “My previous company is going to merge with some other company and for that reason our Managing Director advised us to look for a new job”.

3. What experience do you have in this field?
Answer: Before going to the interview for a particular position, know something about the position and its activities. Try to relate your work with the activities of that position.

4. Do you consider yourself successful?
Answer: You should answer this question in a positive manner. Yes you will say that you are successful but do not show overconfidence.

5. What do co-workers say about you?
Answer: Try to make some smart and concrete sentence about yourself and tell them your co-workers always say those sentences about you.

6. What do you know about this organization?
Answer: Before going for the interview, know something about the organization and about the activities of this organization. It is very important to know. You can check their website or if you could not find information for the website then ask the receptionist about some of your desired questions regarding the company.

7. Are you applying for other jobs?
Answer: Be honest and tell them the truth. If you are applying for other jobs, then tell them but do not spend much time on this question answer. Try to skip it in one sentence if you can.

8. Why do you want to work for this organization?
Answer: Enlighten the good deeds of this organization and if possible show them two or three points of positive difference with other organization.

9. Do you know anyone who works for us?
Answer: If you know a person very well and if he or she can give positive opinion about you then tell them regarding this person otherwise do not tell.

10. What kind of salary do you need?
Answer: If possible then know the range of this position’s salary of this organization and tell your desired one within this range. If it is not possible to know the range of this positions salary then search for other organizations salary structure of same kind and make your one.

11. Are you a team player?
Answer: Of course, you are a team player. If possible tell them some achievements as a team player and if possible enlighten the areas of your work as a team player.

12. How long would you expect to work for us if hired?
Answer: You will tell them that you are very much interested to work with them for a long time because you want to gather experience on the position that you are interviewing and simultaneously tell them the prospect of this position.
13. If you had enough money to retire right now, would you?
Answer: Tell them no. You should tell them that if you have enough money then you will share your experiences with other employees which will help the organization to grow more and more.

14. Have you ever been asked to leave a position?
Answer: If you have not, say no. If you have, be honest, brief and avoid saying negative things about the people or organization involved.

15. Explain how you would be an asset to this organization?
Answer: It gives you a chance to highlight your best points as they relate to the position being discussed. Give a little advance thought to this relationship.

16. Why should we hire you?
Answer: Point out your good qualities and how will it help you to work for the betterment of this organization. Do not mention any other candidates to make a comparison.

17. What irritates you about co-workers?
Answer: This is a tricky question. Try to figure out the most irritating behavior acceptable for all. Also tell them you are a person of kind hearted.

18. What is your greatest strength?
Answer: Tell them about your ability to prioritize, your problem-solving skills, your ability to work under pressure, your ability to focus on projects, your professional expertise, your leadership skills, and your positive attitude.

19. Tell me about your dream job?
Answer: Do not answer this question in a specific way rather you should say a job where I love the work, like the people, can contribute and cannot wait to get to work.

20. Why do you think you would do well at this job?
Answer: Give several reasons and include skills, experience, and interest.

21. What kind of person would you refuse to work with?
Answer: You will tell them – you love to work with all kind of persons because it will help you to understand the ideas and attitude of all kinds of people and will make you more adjustable to all kind of adverse situation.

22. What is more important to you: the money or the work?
Answer: Money is always important, but the work is the most important. There is no better answer.

23. What would your previous supervisor say your strongest point is?
Answer: There are numerous good possibilities: Loyalty, Energy, Positive attitude, Leadership, Team player, Expertise, Initiative, Patience, Hard work, Creativity, Problem solver. Try to highlight the most accepted attributes and which is positively related with the position that you are interviewing.

24. Tell me about a problem you had with a supervisor?
Answer: Do not tell any problem rather say both of you worked for the betterment of the company and all kinds of misunderstanding between you and your boss solved because you were always dedicated for your work and organization.

25. Tell me about your ability to work under pressure?
Answer: Give them some example of some hard projects that you have completed and tell them about your multitasking ability.

26. Are you willing to work overtime? Nights? Weekends?
Answer: Be honest and if you can work then tell them yes if not them tell them the reason why you are not interested to work. But for the overtime portion try to tell them yes because you want to finish your work as soon as possible.

27. Would you be willing to relocate if required?
Answer: You should be clear on this with your family prior to the interview if you think there is a chance it may come up. Do not say yes just to get the job if the real answer is no. This can create a lot of problems later on in your career. Be honest at this point and save yourself future grief.

28. Describe your management style?
Answer: Try to avoid labels. Some of the more common labels, like progressive, salesman or consensus, can have several meanings or descriptions depending on which management expert you listen to. The situational style is safe, because it says you will manage according to the situation, instead of one size fits all.

29. What have you learned from mistakes on the job?
Answer: Here you have to come up with something or you strain credibility. Make it small, well intentioned mistake with a positive lesson learned. An example would be working too far ahead of colleagues on a project and thus throwing coordination off

30.Tell us something about your weakness?
Answer: Tell them some of the weakness which is not major and also tell them that you are trying to overcome those weakness and you have solved most of your weakness.

31. If you were hiring a person for this job, what would you look for?
Answer: Be careful to mention traits that are needed and that you have.

32. How you think you are qualified for this position because your experience is not satisfied?
Answer: First, if you have experience that the interviewer does not know about, bring that up: Then, point out (if true) that you are a hard working quick learner.

33. What has been your biggest professional disappointment?
Answer: Be sure that you refer to something that was beyond your control. Show acceptance and no negative feelings.

34. Tell me about the most fun you have had on the job.
Answer: Talk about having fun by accomplishing something for the organization.

35. Do you have any questions for me?
Answer: Always have some questions prepared for them.
